Oscar Valladares 2012 Toro Barber Pole

Summary

The 2012 Toro Barber Pole is a visually striking cigar that features entwined Candela and Maduro wrappers. This 6 x 52 Toro offers a unique and complex smoking experience, as the interplay between the grassy sweetness of the Candela and the rich chocolatey depth of the Maduro creates a constantly evolving flavor profile. Smokers will enjoy notes of earth, cream, and spice, all delivered with the signature quality of the 2012 series. It is an expertly crafted cigar that is as much a work of art as it is a high-quality smoke, perfect for those seeking something truly distinctive.

Flavor Profile

The 2012 Toro Barber Pole features a mix of Candela and Colorado Maduro wrappers over a Honduran/Nicaraguan core. The flavor profile is a journey of sweetness to earthiness, dominated by a creamy, caramel-like sweetness and drying wood. Notes of leather, nuts, black pepper, and graphite minerality come into play, creating a complex, medium-bodied smoke.

Construction

This visually stunning, handcrafted Honduran cigar features a unique barber pole wrapper of alternating Ecuadorian Connecticut and Maduro leaves. The meticulous construction ensures a smooth draw, an effortless airflow, and an even burn, balancing the complexity of the two wrappers.

Pairing Suggestion

This unique Barber Pole (likely combining Corojo and Maduro or Sumatra wrappers) offers a complex, medium-to-full-bodied smoke. A complex, aged VSOP Cognac or a bold, spicy Rye Whiskey will match its layered profile. A rich, dark Coffee with a hint of cinnamon or a full-bodied, malty Scotch Ale will also provide an intriguing and complementary pairing.

Excellent cigars, great prices, highly recommended!

I’ve been buying from COH Cigars for several times now. The quality is always consistent, prices are very competitive compared to local retailers, and shipping is fast. They have a wide selection of both Cuban and non-Cuban cigars, plus great deals on Seconds. Will definitely keep coming back!
