Oscar Valladares 2012 Corojo Toro Round

Summary

This "Round" version of the 2012 Corojo Toro offers the same spicy and flavorful blend as the box-pressed original but in a traditional cylindrical shape. The round format provides a slightly different tactile experience and can influence the intensity and burn of the Honduran Corojo wrapper. It delivers the same rich notes of cedar, pepper, and toasted wood with a smooth and balanced finish. It is an excellent choice for those who prefer the classic aesthetic of a round Toro while enjoying the robust and complex flavors that the 2012 Corojo line is famous for.

Flavor Profile

The 2012 Corojo Toro Round (likely the Sixty/Gordo) is a medium-to-full-bodied cigar with a truly satisfying smoking experience. The Honduran Corojo wrapper adds a layer of complexity and richness. The flavor profile is characterized by harmonious notes of cedar, pepper, and earthiness, gradually unveiling a nuanced and enjoyable taste throughout the smoke.

Construction

This commemorative cigar is handmade in Honduras. While noted for a great flavor profile, construction quality can be inconsistent, with some reports of a "horrid burn." The Corojo blend aims for a flavorful yet balanced profile.

Pairing Suggestion

This Corojo Toro is likely medium-to-full-bodied with spice and earth. A spicy Rye Whiskey or an earthy, dry Red Wine (e.g., Tempranillo) is an excellent match. A strong, earthy Black Coffee or a peppery Ginger Beer will also complement its Corojo spice and full-bodied character.
